The “Icon” was out for a night on the town. Superstar Janet Jackson enjoyed a rare night off by attending Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala Benefit.

Fresh off the heels of a fantastic weekend box office  for her film “Why Did I Get Married Too?”, Janet and the rest of the Jackson clan were headed to court as they waited to see whether or not Dr. Conrad Murray’s license would be revoked as a result of M.J’s death.

Even though they didn’t get the number one spot…”Why Did I Get Married Too?” managed to rake in over 30 million bucks for the weekend. Besting openings by Miley Cyrus and others.

Janet Jackson to Headline Essence Music Festival

Looks like Janet is on a mission this year. With movies, books and a host of other projects…the pop star is continuing to make her mark on music history.

This summer the youngest of the Jackson clan is scheduled to headline the ever growing Essence music festival which is slated to begin on opening the event on July 2nd. This will be Janet’s first-ever appearance at the annual event and mark the first full concert performance from the singer since her 2008 concert at Madison Square Garden.

I am so excited to see Janet making moves. She’s had a tough past few years but I feel the tide is turning and deservedly so.
