Janet Jackson to Headline Essence Music Festival

https://i0.wp.com/blogs.babble.com/famecrawler/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/janet_jackson0.jpg

Looks like Janet is on a mission this year. With movies, books and a host of other projects…the pop star is continuing to make her mark on music history.

This summer the youngest of the Jackson clan is scheduled to headline the ever growing Essence music festival which is slated to begin on opening the event on July 2nd. This will be Janet’s first-ever appearance at the annual event and mark the first full concert performance from the singer since her 2008 concert at Madison Square Garden.

I am so excited to see Janet making moves. She’s had a tough past few years but I feel the tide is turning and deservedly so.

Sneak Peek at Janet’s new video for her single “Nothing”

I am so excited for this video, movie single….you name it! Janet is doing her thing on this song and in the film “Why Did I Get Married Too”. The video should be airing any day now but in the interim…we will have to do with this behind the scenes peek at the clip! Jermaine Dupri is filming once again. I am not sure what to think about this break-up thing between Jermaine and Janet…. They seem a little too friendly to be broken up?

Melanie Fiona brings “It Kills Me” to the Ellen show

Melanie has to be one of the most underrated artist out there or should I say “used” to be. These days Ms. Fiona is getting love from every direction and it couldn’t have happened to a better nor more deserving person.

Melanie is a true artist and its nice to see that true artistry is not going unnoticed.

Kelis “Acapella” teaser

Before there was a Lady Gaga, there was a Kelis. The former Mrs. Nasir Jones is finally back to doing what she does best: making music. The David Guetta produced “Acapella” will serve as the lead single from her “Flesh Tones” disc.

Check out a teaser for the video that is scheduled to be released any moment now:

Janet taking a break from music; begins shooting new film!

https://i0.wp.com/popbytes.com/img/janet-jackson-feedback-1.jpg

Looks like my favorite Diva is going to be taking a hiatus from music for a little bit and while some fans may be disappointed…I am so totally stoked!

As much as it pains me to say this Janet’s sales have been in trouble and will probably never return to their former glory. The music industry as a whole is in trouble and I have a feeling that Janet will not be the only singer looking to make a jump to films.

Janet should focus on film and soundtracks at this point. I think that is killing two birds with one stone and helping to solidify her legacy as an actress. She’s already proven herself musically so its nice to see her exercising her acting chops.

For her next role, Janet will re-team with her good friend Tyler Perry as well as former label mate Mariah Carey and Whoopi Goldberg in the Tyler Perry movie adaptation of the book ‘For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf’. The new movie begins shooting in June.

Janet photographed on the set of Nothing

Pop Icon, Janet Jackson was spotted on the set of “Nothing” which is the lead single from her new Tyler Perry produced movie “Why Did I Get Married Too”. The film is slated to be released on April 2nd and hopefully the video will arrive shortly thereafter.

Why they are not releasing the video prior to the release of the film is beyond me. One can only speculated that its due to some sort of scheduling conflicts.

In any case check out the pic of a stunning Janet and be sure to go see the film, request the song on your local radio stations and purchase it on Itunes!

On the promotional trail with Monica

The R&B diva recently stopped by The Early Show to promote her new album “Still Standing” which is in stores today. Still Standing marks Monica’s 1st album in four years and it was well worth the wait.
